I’m a mom, a wife, and a writer. After years of running into a wall, I realized I can’t do the 9-5 and still feel alive, so I decided to take a different path. On that path, I’ve struggled with finances and failures, but also reached significant heights personally and professionally.
I know I’m not alone, so I wanted to share my experiences as an older mom, along with freelance and self-publishing tips and resources for moms who want to try it themselves. I love the idea of being a fairy godmother and giving people the tools to make their dreams come true.
Who Am I Anyway?
Let’s see, I grew up in a small town that I couldn’t wait to get out of, and now I’m back in the same neighborhood where I grew up. Is this a failure? I want to say not.
When I was younger, I wanted to be a Broadway star, a politician, and a famous author. Today, I’ve experienced enough of each, and I’m happy just being me.
I moved to New York, traveled the country as an actress, graduated college with a Political Science degree, became a freelance writer, and self-published my first children’s book. Between those bigger moments, I worked as a fundraiser for small nonprofits, met and fell in love with the man of my dreams, and gave birth to a beautiful and strong-willed daughter in my 40s.
I’ve lived an extraordinarily ordinary life and wouldn’t do it any differently. What I want to do now is inspire others to reach for their dreams so they can realize they are where they are meant to be.
Are you looking for some sympathy or validation? Don't worry, you're not the only mom who can't get their child to sleep.
